When giving becomes and act of worship for a Christian, it is meant to extend beyond people we love or like and go forth to those who hate us or do us wrong.

In addition to revealing our thankfulness, gratefulness, and obedience to God in Christ, giving as worship also represents our unity with and honor for fellow saints of God.

To "taste and see the goodness of the Lord" and not respond in kind means we are robbing from God. To respond generously to God's free gift of grace serves to reflect His image to others, prove that wealth is not an idol, and that we are trustworthy of even greater blessings…

Our generosity will rise and fall in proportion to our perspective on eternity. If we desire nothing more than what the world has to offer, we will struggle giving generously. If we have our sights set on spending eternity in the presence of our greatest treasure, we won't cling to any earthly treasure.

God does not ask anything of us that He hasn't already proven Himself willing to do first. He intends that His outpouring of grace on all of His children, through the gospel of Christ, be an example for us AND cultivate a motive of thankful, grateful, and joyful worship in our giving.

The amount we give is of little consequence compared to the inclination of our hearts as we give. We are called to give with a heart of thankfulness and gratefulness for ALL that we have been given. This is how God is glorified in our giving, or put another way—how giving becomes worship.
