Sermon Outline

  • Thinking is indispensable on the path to passion for God.
  • Thinking is not an end in itself. Nothing but God himself is finally an end in itself.
  • Thinking is not the goal of life. Thinking, like non- thinking, can be the ground for boasting. Thinking, without prayer, without the Holy Spirit, without obedience, without love, will puff up and destroy (1 Corinthians 8:1).
  • Thinking under the mighty of God, thinking soaked in prayer, thinking carried by the Holy Spirit, thinking tethered to the Bible, thinking in the service of love—such thinking is indispensable in a life of fullest praise to God.

Philippians 4:8 NKJVFinally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

  • What we think about affects how we feel.?
  • What we think about affects what we do.?
  • What we think about affects who we are.

1. What you think about affects how you feel.

Romans 8:5 NKJVFor those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

2 Corinthians 10:5 NKJVcasting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

2. What we think about affects what you do.

Romans 12:2 NKJVAnd do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

3. What we think about affects who you are.

Proverbs 23:7a NKJVFor as he thinks in his heart, so is he.

Who you are when you are all alone, is who you really are!

If we are going to be like Jesus, then we need to think like Jesus and… Jesus is RELENTLESS about Lost Things!

THINK ABOUT IT!

Philippians 4:8 NKJVFinally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
