“Hope In the Face of Coronavirus”
Times like these will raise either our fear level or our faith level.
Psalm 34:1-4 NKJVI will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make its boast in the Lord; The humble shall hear of it and be glad. 3 Oh, magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. 4 I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears.
Living by faith, not fear involves...
1. Being optimistic, yet realistic.
1 Samuel 20:3 NKJVThen David took an oath again, and said, "Your father certainly knows that I have found favor in your eyes, and he has said, 'Do not let Jonathan know this, lest he be grieved.' But truly, as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is but a step between me and death."
Psalm 139:16 NKJVYour eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.
2. Praying, not panicking.
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJVBe anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3-4 NKJVYou will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4 Trust in the Lord forever, For in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength.
3. Stocking up on faith.
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NKJVFor though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
4. Assessing our "real" priorities.
1 John 2:15-17 NKJVDo not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
5. Re-engaging with loved ones.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 NKJVTo everything there is a season,A time for every purpose under heaven: 2 A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted;
“There cannot be a single maverick molecule anywhere in the universe that is outside of God's sovereignty.” —R.C. Sproul (on God's will)
No matter our circumstances, we need not cower in fear. Instead, let's live courageously by faith.
