Sermon Outline

What if your most difficult day were put on display?

Who among us could stand the scrutiny of a thorough investigation of our lives?

Every good leader is a flawed leader... except one!

Jesus Christ is the only world leader with a faultless testimony.

• Jesus' origin was questioned.

John 5:17-18 NKJVBut Jesus answered them, "My Father has been working until now, and I have been working." 18 Therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill Him, because He not only broke the Sabbath, but also said that God was His Father, making Himself equal with God.

• Jesus' identity was questioned.

John 8:41-42 NKJVYou do the deeds of your father." Then they said to Him, "We were not born of fornication; we have one Father—God." 42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me.

• Jesus' authority was questioned.

John 8:47-48 NKJVHe who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God." 48 Then the Jews answered and said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?"

Matthew 12:24 NKJVNow when the Pharisees heard it they said, "This fellow does not cast out demons except by Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons."

Everyone chooses to receive or reject Jesus Christ (by decision or default).

1. Judas chose cash over Christ.

Luke 22:2-5 NKJVAnd the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might kill Him, for they feared the people. 3 Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve. 4 So he went his way and conferred with the chief priests and captains, how he might betray Him to them. 5 And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.

2. Peter chose comfort over Christ.

John 18:16-17 NKJVBut Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to her who kept the door, and brought Peter in. 17 Then the servant girl who kept the door said to Peter, "You are not also one of this Man's disciples, are you?"

John 18:25-27 NKJVNow Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they said to him, "You are not also one of His disciples, are you?" He denied it and said, "I am not!" 26 One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, "Did I not see you in the garden with Him?" 27 Peter then denied again; and immediately a rooster crowed.

3. Pilate chose career over Christ.

John 19:10-12 NKJVThen Pilate said to Him, "Are You not speaking to me? Do You not know that I have power to crucify You, and power to release You?" 11 Jesus answered, "You could have no power at all against Me unless it had been given you from above. Therefore the one who delivered Me to you has the greater sin." 12 From then on Pilate sought to release Him, but the Jews cried out, saying, "If you let this Man go, you are not Caesar's friend. Whoever makes himself a king speaks against Caesar."

4. The Jews chose a criminal over Christ.

Luke 23:18-20 NKJVAnd they all cried out at once, saying, "Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas"— 19 who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder. 20 Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.

5. The religious leaders chose a secular leader over Christ.

John 19:15 NKJVBut they cried out, "Away with Him, away with Him! Crucify Him!" Pilate said to them, "Shall I crucify your King?" The chief priests answered, "We have no king but Caesar!"

Why choose Jesus?

⇒ He is faultless.

• He said so.

John 8:46 NKJVWhich of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me?

• His judge said so.

John 19:4 NKJVPilate then went out again, and said to them, "Behold, I am bringing Him out to you, that you may know that I find no fault in Him."

• His closest friend said so.

1 John 3:5 NKJVAnd you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.

• His former enemy said so.

2 Corinthians 5:21 NKJVFor He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Why do I Still love the church..?

It's founder is faultless!
