Sermon Outline

What is the most important message you've ever been entrusted with?

God, who created the world by speaking it into existence, has enlisted us to share the one message everyone needs to hear.

The Bible is the only book whose author is present every time it is read, shared, or studied.

2 Timothy 2:8-16 NKJV Remember that Jesus Christ, of the seed of David, was raised from the dead according to my gospel, 9 for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained. 10 Therefore I endure all things for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. 12 If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. 13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself. 14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness.

God, who cannot lie, has made some seriously shocking and super comforting promises to mankind.

Seriously shocking promises…

1. To punish the ungodly.

Hebrews 11:7 NKJV By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.

Matthew 24:37-39 NKJV But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

2. To hold the lawless accountable.

Exodus 20:7 NKJV "You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

3. To rightly judge everyone.

Hebrews 9:27 NKJV And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

Genesis 18:25 NKJV Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"

Super comforting promises…

1. To work in those who read His Word.

Romans 10:17 NKJV So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

"I had up to this time closed my Bible and prayed for faith. I now opened my Bible and began to study and faith has been growing ever since." —D.L. Moody

2. To work in others when we share His Word.

2 Timothy 2:9 NKJV for which I suffer trouble as an evildoer, even to the point of chains; but the word of God is not chained.

"The word of God is like a lion. You don't have to defend a lion. All you have to do is let the lion loose, and the lion will defend itself." —Charles Spurgeon
