Sermon Outline

Refining =
The process of removing imperfections and impurities. Making something pure or free from moral imperfections.

We are refined when the Kingdom of God becomes the filter through which we live our lives.

Luke 9:62 NKJV But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

  • Few things can get us back on track and keep us on track like prayer.
  • We underutilize prayer because we misunderstand prayer.

Six Elements of the Lord's Prayer:

1. Acknowledge His holiness and exalted position.

Matthew 6:9 NKJV In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

2. Pledge your allegiance to King Jesus and adopt His will as your own.

Matthew 6:10 NKJV Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.

3. Acknowledge that you and your family need His provision and protection.

Matthew 6:11 NKJV Give us this day our daily bread.

4. Confess your sins & seek His forgiveness, and commit to forgiving others.

Matthew 6:12 NKJV And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.

5. Ask Him to guide you and your loved ones.

Matthew 6:13a NKJV And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.

6.Praise Him for your place in His eternal kingdom.

Matthew 6:13b NKJV For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

Prayer is a privilege granted to us at new birth.

John 8:44 NKJV You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.

1 Peter 1:3-5 NKJV Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:23 NKJV having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever,

Galatians 4:4-6 NKJV But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, 5 to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. 6 And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"

"And what is 'the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry Abba, Father?' I cannot tell you, but if you have felt it, you will know it. It is a sweet compound of faith that knows God to be my Father, love that loves Him as my Father, joy that rejoices in Him as my Father, fear that trembles to disobey Him, because He is my Father, and a confident affection and trustfulness that relies upon Him, and casts itself wholly upon Him, because it knows by the infallible witness of the Holy Spirit, that JEHOVAH, the God of the earth and heaven, is the Father of my heart." —Charles Spurgeon
