The Kingdom of God is…

  • Indescribable using words or examples.
  • Unattainable through human effort.
  • Available to all who accept God's invitation.

"According to the Bible, all our troubles as men and women in this world arise from one fundamental cause and that is our ignorance of certain basic, fundamental truths." —Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Proverbs 16:25 NKJV There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

Who is not in the Kingdom of God?

Matthew 5:17-20 NKJV "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. 19 Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.

Romans 10:1-4 NKJV Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. 2 For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.

  • Self-righteous people ARE NOT in!
  • Morally good people ARE NOT in!
  • Christ-rejecting people ARE NOT in!

Who is in the Kingdom of God?

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NKJV Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

  • Washed people ARE in!
    = to cleanse fully
  • Sanctified people ARE in!
    = to make holy
  • Justified people ARE in!
= to render just or innocent

How to respond when someone says that their deceased loved one is "in a better place":

Ask them the following question privately. "What gives you confidence and assurance that they are in a better place?"

Mark 12:34 NKJV Now when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, He said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." But after that no one dared question Him.
