“Love For Others”
The Bible outlines the way believers are to VIEW one another and TREAT one another.
Two important truths about our spiritual relationships:
1. The closer we get to God, the more we'll love one another.
1 John 3:11-12 NKJV For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, 12 not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother's righteous.
We are called to hate what God hates.
- He hates evil.
Psalm 97:10 NKJV You who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the souls of His saints; He delivers them out of the hand of the wicked.
Romans 12:9 NKJV Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.
- He hates sin.
Proverbs 6:16-19 NKJV These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: 17 A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, 19 A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.
2. The closer we get to God, the more we'll need one another.
1 John 3:13-19 NKJV Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death. 15 Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him. 16 By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him.
- If we don't need one another, we should check our spiritual pulse!
- Believers who adore Christ won't ignore one another.
Genuine love between believers elevates the awareness and beauty of Christ and His body, the church.
