<< Positional Blessings Pt. 1 REVIEW >>
Three truths regarding our blessings:
  1. They are spiritual, not material.
  2. They are positional, not conditional.
  3. They involve actions in the past, present and future:
<< END REVIEW >>

Ephesians 1:9-14 NKJV having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will, 12 that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

We are moving towards a culmination or final stage of human existence—a stage that results in eternal blessings for all who are "in Christ" and eternal damnation for all who are not.

In our text, Paul shares two additional blessings for all who are "in Christ".

Our positional blessings include…
1. Security now.

Ephesians 1:12-14 NKJV that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory. 13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 NKJV Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,

All who are sealed are secure forever.

2. Unification later.

Ephesians 1:9-11 NKJV having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, 10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him. 11 In Him also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of Him who works all things according to the counsel of His will,

Romans 1:16-17 NKJV For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith."

All who believe are together forever.

In Summary:
  • The gospel is both inclusive and exclusive.
  • Our text addresses unification, not universalism.
  • God's electing does not negate our believing.
