“A Future Prepared For Us All”

Sermon Outline

Is anything worth losing out on the Kingdom of God?

1. The King came to set us free and to set us up.

Matthew 25:13-18 NKJV ″Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming. 14 For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. 15 And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. 16 Then he who had received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents. 17 And likewise he who had received two gained two more also. 18 But he who had received one went and dug in the ground, and hid his lord's money.

Daniel 7:13-14 NKJV ″I was watching in the night visions, And behold, One like the Son of Man, Coming with the clouds of heaven! He came to the Ancient of Days, And they brought Him near before Him. 14 Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion, Which shall not pass away, And His kingdom the one Which shall not be destroyed.

The Kingdom of God describes both a reality and an opportunity. God is the sovereign ruler over all, who provides Us with the opportunity to enjoy a place in His eternal kingdom.

2. The King is coming again and will either reject us or reward us.

Matthew 25:19-30 NKJV ″After a long time the lord of those servants came and settled accounts with them. 20 So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ′Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.′ 21 His lord said to him, ′Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.′ 22 He also who had received two talents came and said, ′Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.′ 23 His lord said to him, ′Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.′ 24 Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ′Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.′ 26 But his lord answered and said to him, ′You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents. 29 For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away. 30 And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.′

  • Before the fall, a remedy for sin was in place.

Revelation 13:8 NKJV All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

  • Before the fall, a reward for repentant sinners was in place.

Matthew 25:34 NKJV ″Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ′Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

Our rejection leaves Him no choice but to exclude us from His kingdom, while our reception of Him leads to endless joy and inclusion in His kingdom!

Matthew 25:34, 46 NKJV Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ′Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:46 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.″

Revelation 21:1-8 NKJV Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. 2 Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ″Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. 4 And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.″ 5 Then He who sat on the throne said, ″Behold, I make all things new.”″And He said to me, ″Write, for these words are true and faithful.″ 6 And He said to me, ″It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.″
