Sermon Outline

How much are you worth? How much do you think your worth?

1. The Worry of Humanity

Luke 12:1-5 NKJVIn the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, "Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. 2 For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. 3 Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. 4 And I say to you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. 5 But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

We are fixated on something none of us can attain… a long and trouble-free life.

2. The Worth of Humanity

Luke 12:6-7 NKJV"Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows."

Our worth depends on who we ask.

Why use sparrows and hair to illustrate such a profound truth?
⇒ One represents what to us seems trivial and the other essential.

Forgotten (epilanthanomai) =
to lose out of mind, to neglect

Philippians 3:13 NKJVBrethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,

Hebrews 6:10 NKJVFor God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

James 1:22-24 NKJVBut be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

Your worth to God is without qualification, investigation or reservation!

3. The Weight On Humanity

Luke 12:8-9 NKJV"Also I say to you, whoever confesses Me before men, him the Son of Man also will confess before the angels of God. 9 But he who denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God."

Luke 15:10Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

Matthew 13:36-43 NKJVThen Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, "Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field." 37 He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Base your worth on the Words and Works of Jesus Christ, not your own!
